A Phrasal Verb is a verb that consists of a basic verb and another word. It is a combination of two or three words that are used together, such as a verb and a preposition. Finally, it usually has a different meaning from the original verb, but a phrasal verb is still a verb.

Phrasal verbs are often encountered in spoken and written English. Therefore, Let’s practice phrasal verbs in daily conversation!

Now, we are going to talk about 10 GET Phrasal Verbs that are usually used!

1. GET UP = GET + UP

>> It means we need to stand up, get off the floor, get off the chair or whatever.

Ex: I need you to get up now from your seat.

>> Get up also means to get dressed in a certain way. If we are going to go to a birthday party, you want to get up all nice dress or nice suit with jewellery.

Ex: Bryan gets up in a zombie costume for a Halloween party.

2.GET DOWN = GET + DOWN

>> It means we should to lower our head and body quickly to avoid something hit from above the sky.

Ex: Get down, please! The ball is coming.

>> It means we start feeling sad or losing hope

Ex: I get down time by time because I am not confident

>> It means we give serious attention

Ex: Let’s get down to work

3.GET AWAY = GET + AWAY

>> It means we must leave or escape from a place/someone. We can also use “get away” to explain that we go on vacation to go somewhere to have a holiday.

Ex: Jenny is going to get away for a few weeks this month for a holiday

4.GET OVER = GET + OVER

>> It means we find a way to deal with the problem or we can also say to start feeling better again after something bad happened.

Ex: It took me one week to get over the flu.

5.GET OFF = GET + OFF

>> It means we remove a part of our body from a particular place

Ex: Please get off your body from the table.

>> It means we avoid the most serious consequences of a dangerous situation or punishment

Ex: He gets off easily after the criminal case he has done.

6.GET ON = GET + ON

>> It means we talk or ask about how well somebody doing in a particular situation

Ex: How did you get on at the interview?

>> We also use get on to express when we get something such as transportation

Ex: Please get on the bus now if you’re going to go to school

7.GET IN = GET+ IN

>> It means we arrive or enter a certain place/destination

Ex: You get in very late at a dinner party

>> It means we succeed in entering, doing, making, or delivering something.

Ex: It’s a very famous school and you have to pass a test to get in.

8.GET THROUGH = GET + THROUGH

>> It means we finish something or complete all the things that need to be completed.

Ex: The teacher will give a score when the students get through the homework

>> It means we pass and reach a destination

Ex: He gets through to the wrong dormitory

9.GET BETWEEN = GET + BETWEEN

>> It means to come to be in a position between someone or something.

Ex: The teacher gets between Tom and Rob to stop them from fighting in class.

10.GET ALONG = GET + ALONG

>> It means two or more people like and be a friendly relationship with each other

Ex: My boss and I get along very well
